With MM/Lorelei, I get to have my cake and eat it too. Sometimes they clearly have different feelings and different aims, like when MM lectured Lorelei via videotape about an autistic boy Lorelei really liked. But it's really like the difference between me-sober and me-while-drunk. Lorelei is a little closer to her feelings, but they're still basically the same feelings.
The way LB assumed that MM was "controlling" sweet, innocent Lorelei would have ticked Lorelei off no end. Lorelei is the one who decides to use the locket. MM cannot stay MM indefinitely, but Lorelei can stay Lorelei forever. She's also big on assuming responsibility, the way she's proud of living and working on her own, the way she lectured an old acquaintance who was using his own mental handicap to try to excuse a crime. Maybe the blow was over-the-top...but LB was clearly not hearing what Lorelei was trying to say, and sometimes the only way to get a mule's attention is hit them with a two-by-four. She WANTED to really like LB, since he's the closest to the "classic" hero mold of ANY of the original group. She feels she's being condescended to, though, and she can't STAND that.
While the others try their best to keep Green Avenger from beating herself up, Lorelei attempts to knock some sense into Lightbringer.
I love Lightbringer's cheek rub. Sure, that smack with Mindmistress' metal fist looks like it hurts, but you can tell from his face that it's his pride that aches the most.
Poor Lightbringer. Still being used as the butt end of the humor.
