We've all contributed ideas to this project, but the creepy image of graveyards of doppelgangers, parallel selves that the Smiling Man snuffed, was mine. It's partly because I feel multiple versions of heroes tend to dilute the original. I wanted Mindmistress, for instance, to be the only Mindmistress out there. Also, I liked the creepiness of the image--like Ebeneezer Scrooge looking at his own grave.
But I didn't anticipate how creepy Dan/The Red Death would make it.
You all wondered how we were going to shock the Green Avenger out of Smiley's control...
Well. Now you know.
Again. This page just blew me away, thanks to the wonderful take Dan/The Red Death took on it.
Thursday is yet another page by Dan, the cover of the final chapter, which we call "Endgame". I've seen it, and all I can say is...George Perez, look out!
Are you really surprised that a guy who calls himself "theRedDeath" would make a creepy graveyard page? I'm totally creepy! Just ask my ex-girlfriends!.......Wait....that came out wrong....
My original art for this was actually a little different. Originally I had GA's elbows going out away from her body in the final panel. But at the last minute I decided that having her elbows pulled in, almost touching, would make for much more twisted and evocative body language. And I think that simple last minute change really makes a whole lot of difference in the final product.
